Open QuestionWhat are the things to look for when buying a mountain bike?In Outdoor Recreation
|
 | 1.A reputable bike shop. No dept.stores. Do yourself a favor, ask around.Call a local bike club for trustworthy shop info.
2.Style of riding. You don't need a two thousand dollar bike for easy to moderate trails.A good rule of thumb is buy the best bike you can AFFORD.Quality seems to kick in at around $800, this is subjective though.
3.Components - those parts of the bike that include deuraillers, shifters, levers, brakes, bottom brackets, headsets etc., should be of quality brands, but overkill in this area is wasteful. Work with your L.B.S.(local bike shop). I won't get into specifics here, such as type and quality of frame material, but, there are many online biking forums that are intense in their information flow on these issues.
4.Look for a deal from last years models, often reduced for a quick sale. Arm yourself with as much info as possible, test ride as many as they'll let you, and haggle the price (which can't be done in a dept.,store). Your repeat business is in their best interest. 261 days ago | | |
